FromJuliana Hatfield's forthcoming album, Lightning Might Strike, comes her second single, "Popsicle," which is out today with a new video directed by Paige Applin.
“Could ‘Popsicle’ take the prize for ‘feel-bad song of the winter’? It certainly doesn’t pull any punches in its description of mid-life disillusionment. But sonically I was going for fun and catchy, as ever. I love to take a simple, recognizable idea—the sweet frozen perennial summer treat, in this case—and use it as a symbol of all the dread in my head,” - Juliana
Dragon Inn 3, the electronic pop project led by former Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin co-founder Philip Dickey, releases its new EP Full Disclosure today. The special limited-edition cassette release arrives in celebration of Cassette Store Week 2025 and is also available digitally.
The eight-track EP features four brand-new songs alongside four previously released digital singles, blending the band’s signature mix of dreamy synth-pop, sparkling power pop, and timeless melodic hooks.
The first four songs on Full Disclosure - “Send Your Love,” “Never Lost,” “Yer Too Good,” and “Taking It Back” - were written over the course of three decades, reflecting the band’s evolving creative life. Grace Bentley began “Never Lost” as a teenager in 2002, while Philip Dickey started “Send Your Love” in 2015 and found inspiration to finish it after watching True Romance for the first time last year. “Yer Too Good” and “Taking It Back” were co-written by Dickey and his sister and bandmate Sharon Hamm earlier this year.
“We could not have made these songs without some of our new and old friends,” says Dickey. “Ryan Wasoba, who I played shows with in the early 2000s, helped us record guitars on ‘Never Lost.’ Our new friendsNick Wilkersonon drums, Brandon Yangmi as recording engineer, and Scoops Dardaris on mixing helped us out on everything else.”
The last four songs on the EP, “Clock Machine,” “All I Know,” “Be On My Side,” and the band’s radiant cover of Fountains of Wayne’s “Sink To The Bottom,” collect Dragon Inn 3’s digital singles released over the past few years, gathered together here for the first time.
DRAGON INN 3 - FULL DISCLOSURE - TRACKLISTING:
1. Send Your Love 2. Never Lost 3. Yer Too Good 4. Taking It Back 5. Clock Machine 6. All I Know 7. Be On My Side 8. Sink To The Bottom (Fountains of Wayne cover)
Recorded between Springfield, Kansas City, and Los Angeles, Full Disclosure captures the band’s most immediate and organic sound to date. After years of crafting lush, synth-heavy arrangements, Dragon Inn 3 embraced a more direct, live approach focused on drums, guitars, and melody.
“We wanted to make a power pop record with tight arranging, catchy melodies, and good vibes,” says Dickey. “Our first albums took forever to dial in because of all the synths and overdubs. This time we got back to the basics of recording live instruments and chasing what feels fun.”
Formed in 2012 when Dickey wrote music for a short film called Ghoul School, Dragon Inn 3 has built a reputation for crafting melodic indie pop that mixes charm, humor, and heart. Their releases include Double Line (2018), Trade Secrets (2023), and It’s Christmas (2023), all on American Laundromat Records.
With Full Disclosure, Dragon Inn 3 channels their love for 80s synth-pop and 90s college radio while nodding to timeless influences like The Beatles, Big Star, and Depeche Mode. The result is a record that feels both familiar and fresh, filled with energy and reflection.
“We are super lucky and grateful to work with American Laundromat Records, Bank Robber Music, and SRG studios,” Dickey adds. “They have been helping us release music for the last seven years. Special thanks to Lonny Unitus for the cassette design and layouts.”
WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS - Juliana Hatfield is testing her luck with the poppy, guitar driven single “Scratchers” out today along with a video directed by Paige Applin. It’s the first release from her 21st solo album Lightning Might Strike, available December 12th via American Laundromat Records. Pre-orders are currently available for CD, cassette, and LP in 4 vinyl color options. Signed copies, limited-edition bundles, and test pressings are also available. Learn more at American Laundromat Records.
The song can be seen as a testament to endurance (“I’ve always had a feeling/that I was born to win”) and the album itself, recorded mostly in Juliana’s house, by Juliana, was two years in the making.
This riff switches, in “Scratchers”, from major to minor and back again, creating a pendulating mood shift, alternately optimistic and gloomy-doomy, befitting the song’s split between the rose-tinted glasses of the gambler (you can’t win if you don’t play!) and the harsh reality of the subtext (you can’t win, you’ll never win).
The album, Lightning Might Strike, captures a period of major change. “It was a difficult time for me when I started working on this album. I had just uprooted myself from the city apartment building where I’d been living for twenty years to a house in a more rural town two hours away where I knew no one when one of my best friends died (‘Ashes’), and then my dog died (‘Constant Companion’), then my mother was diagnosed with esophagus cancer (‘Scratchers’). I was pretty depressed for a solid year (‘Long Slow Nervous Breakdown’) and was lost and very lonely (‘Harmonizing With Myself’). I was thinking about fate and circumstance and about how I’d ended up where I was (‘Where Are You Now’).”
Joining Juliana (guitar, keyboards, vocals, percussion, bass) on this album journey were Chris Anzalone (drums), Ed Valauskas (bass) and Pat DiCenso (mix/mastering).
Lightning Might Strike is available for pre-order now from record shops and direct from American Laundromat Records. Learn more here.

The Juliana Hatfield Three - singer/songwriter/guitarist Juliana Hatfield, drummer Todd Philips, and bassist Dean Fisher - released Become What You Are in August 1993. Produced by Scott Litt (R.E.M.), the album found early success with the debut single “My Sister.” Despite the song’s title, Juliana did not have a sister, leading many to speculate about the inspiration for the song. “My Sister” reached #1 on the Billboard “Modern Rock” charts with an accompanying video, directed by Phil Morrison (Junebug), played on MTV.
The album’s third single “Spin The Bottle” (1994) was featured on the soundtrack to the Ben Stiller-directed film Reality Bites starring Winona Ryder, and Ethan Hawke. In the music video, directed by Stiller, a group including Juliana Hatfield, Todd Phillips, Dean Fisher, Ethan Hawke, and Tanya Donelly (Belly) play a game of spin the bottle while scenes from the film project behind them. Propelled by the success of the film and soundtrack, “Spin The Bottle” peaked at #39 on the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream charts.
Following a 20 year hiatus, the Juliana Hatfield Three reformed in 2014 and released their critically acclaimed sophomore album Whatever, My Love in 2015 on American Laundromat Records followed by a U.S. tour. Both Stereogum and Consequence named it “one of the most anticipated albums of 2015”.
Be sure to check out their terrific video below, and if you live in or around Austin, catch their official release party show tonight at End Of An Ear.
Juliana Hatfield gets nostalgic on third single “Telephone Line” from the forthcoming album Juliana Hatfield Sings ELO.
“Some people might not know what a busy signal is and might not comprehend what it means not to be able to leave a message; what it means to feel essentially unable to communicate. But I do and it has nothing to do with technology. ‘Telephone Line’ is really just an expression of an isolation and a loneliness which music helps to make more bearable.” -Juliana
Juliana Hatfield Sings ELO is available for pre-order on CD, cassette, LP (4 color options), and a limited edition 7-inch featuring 2 non-album tracks (“I’m Alive” and “When I Was A Boy”). Prior to the album release, Juliana will hit the road in October on a solo-electric tour (dates below).

We're stoked about this very special release fromIl Sogno del Marinaio(Andrea Belfi,Mike Watt,Stefano Pilia). This is their first release since 2014 and the second official release from ourRed Parakeet Recordsimprint.
This exclusive 7" features 3 original tracks, one written by each bandmember, as a tribute to their beloved friend Miles Cooper Seaton (pictured below, left).
"I'm so glad me and my fratelli have made this tribute to a great music cat whose life got taken, taken with yet so much to give, Miles Cooper Seaton. I hope people hearing our music for him will maybe help them to wanna explore the music he himself made to share with all of us."–Mike Watt
"These pieces are a tribute to our lost and beloved friend Miles Cooper Seaton - a clever, sweet, deeply generous and inspiring soul. They are directly inspired by moments of life memories we shared together with him. We tried to let his voice still speak to us and through us thanks to the gift of knowing him and the connection we had with him, and to the practice of music, something Miles deeply loved and brought into this world with courage, love and devotion."–Stefano Pilia
"Miles Cooper Seaton was a great musician, capable of writing deep and meaningful songs. The music he made with the band Akron/Family was very significant for many. He was a generous man, always there for friends needing help and support. I found in him one of the best friends I’ve ever had, someone I could open my heart to; however, the situation was about, he was never judging. His wild spirit was incredibly inspiring, as he had no fear of expressing his thoughts and emotions. I’m so happy I can pay this humble tribute to his life together with my Fratelli Mike Watt and Stefano Pilia, with whom I shared many adventures over the last years, and in doing so, doing what Miles was fearlessly suggesting to others: in a world with so much sorrow surrounding us all, the greatest tool we have is to connect and share with people we love, with passion, compassion, and understanding and for each other."–Andrea Belfi
