High School Reunion is an outstanding 20-song compilation featuring indie-rockers Matthew Sweet, Lori McKenna, Frank Black, John P. Strohm (Blake Babies/Lemonheads), Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses/50 Foot Wave), The Caulfield Sisters, The Dresden Dolls and many more covering tracks from some of those hilarious 80's teen films. Songs that appeared in all those John Hughes classics like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, and Some Kind of Wonderful are included as are choice tracks from the films Valley Girl, Say Anything, and more. This is a must-have for anyone who grew up in the 80’s and enjoyed the films and music of that time.

Praise for High School Reunion

"American Laundromat Records dreamt up a concept so disgustingly cool that it can only be a triumph!" - Alan Pedder (U.K. Music Journalist)

"This is how tribute albums should be done... the music on High School Reunion is as entertaining as it is nostalgic." - Devin Grant (The Post & Courier)

“Whether you remember the first time you heard these songs or saw these movies is fairly irrelevant… This album is an amazing collection of amazing songs re-worked by some amazing artists... You'll find yourself enjoying these timeless classics all over again.” - L. Keane (Hybrid Magazine)

“With an idea so choice it's surprising no one else had thought of it sooner. High School Reunion: A Tribute to Those Great 80s Films! is one of the finest tribute records ever amassed. Paying homage to the music that characterized beloved films from the Reagan administration, national artists like Matthew Sweet and Frank Black do the impossible by rivaling the goodness of original versions of Tom Petty's "American Girl" and Iggy Pop's "Repo Man." Elsewhere, Kristin Hersh does an intriguing read on Black's own Pixies staple "Wave of Mutilation," although the Dresden Dolls' chaotic rendering of "Pretty in Pink" has trouble measuring up. Diamonds in the rough, from regional New England outfits like the Commons (covering the Cars' "Moving in Stereo") and Bastards of Melody (serving up a tender take on the Replacements' "Within Your Reach") also stand out among the 20 tracks compiled here. Let this serve as a blueprint for all future tribute sets. Nicely done.” - John D. Luerssen (All Music Guide)
